Carl Shay is back in style with a first class, up to date line dance show. After a short break from Country music we are glad to welcome Carl Shay back onto our stages. Over the years Carl has catered for many sides of the music business but his heart has always been in Country and he has now turned his gaze purely towards the line dance scene and his show is proving a hit for all dance clubs and weekend events. Carl was born into a musical family and he remembers his father performing in folk clubs from a very early age. When Carl grew up he joined the army and it was here, while stationed in Germany, that he found Country music. Garth Brooks had just hit the music scene and a friend gifted him Garth’s No Fences album. Carl was hooked! He went out and bought his first guitar and started to teach himself to play and before very long he was entertaining the troops overseas. He played different styles of music, including Country, folk, blues and pop for the army clubs and pubs and more throughout Germany. After leaving the army he looked to music as a career and over the years he worked on many varied shows, from Meatloaf and Queen tributes, to working alongside Jim Dean and Frank Mayers in a line dance trio. He also did a two month tour performing for the British and American armies in Bosnia and Croatia, alongside rock singer Marillion. In modern times Carl has concentrated on his solo career and now specifically on his solo line dance show. His extensive vocal range is second to none and along with his excellent guitar playing he is accompanied by top quality custom backing tracks, which help in creating a top quality performance. Carl now lives near Leeds with his family but travels the length and breadth of the UK performing in clubs and line dance venues. He built quite a name for himself before he had a short break and is now wanting to pick up where he left off with an even better show.
A highlight of Gary's career was to appear on Stars in their Eyes where he performed as Neil Young.
